Campania arrived in New York with a case full of special attractions - those that characterise the smallest villages. As part of the "We Campania" project the Region has launched action to promote its territory and to extend what it has to offer tourists, especially those in the American market.

Campania is still one of the the favourite American destinations along with Lazio, Tuscany and Veneto. "We Campania" was run with the support of ENIT North America and brought bodies and companies to New York that are involved in promoting the Campania area.

"In addition to the great attractions like Naples, the Caserta Royal Palace, Capri and Pompei - explained Nicola Cardano, Director of the Caserta Tourism Board - we also wish to draw attention to the smaller venues that are of no less interest in terms of landscape and food and wine".

This was echoed by the President of the Caserta Tourism Board, Alfredo Aurilio: "We have beautiful sites that are still little known to many tourists, such as the Campania Museum in Capua, the Roman Amphiteatre of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the Cilento / Diano Valley, the San Leucio viewpoint, and villages in the Province of Avellino. Many of these are UNESCO heritage sites".

The Campania project aroused a lot of interest among the public in the hall. About a hundred American professionals including tour operators and the sector press, reacted enthusiastically to the presentation and put a lot of questions to the speakers present.

Highlights of Friuli on Tour in Vienna PDF Print

Highlights of Friuli, such as the wide-ranging tourist attractions and cuisine of the region, were presented to the Austrian public at the Metternich Palace, the historical seat of the Italian Embassy in Vienna.

The exhibition, intended to promote the tourist, literary and gastronomic highlights of the Province of Udine, sprang from the tried and tested "Italy System" abroad to support Italian businesses, as it was set up and run based on an agreement between the Italian Embassy in Austria, the Province and the Udine Chamber of Commerce.

"From the Dolomites to Adria, it offers everything", said Leonardo Campanelli, Manager of ENIT's Vienna office, pointing out that the region is mainly important as a tourist destination for the Austrians. The numbers speak for themselves: 348,000 Austrian visitors in 2011, in Friuli, 1,340,000 visitors. "Austrians account for 32% of foreign visitors and 15% of all Italian and foreign tourists" to Friuli Venezia Giulia said Edi Sommariva, Director General of the Region's Tourism Agency.

A selected audience of authorities and representatives of the Austrian business community were offered an array of tourism, cultural (among other things the Tiepolo Exhibition was presented in Udine in 2012), design and food and wine attractions.

Apart from the Region's music festivals, exhibitions and trekking and bicycle tours, the new attractions in Lignano were also presented that for the first time offers a beach that welcomes dogs.

Destination Italy is promoted in Hungary PDF Print

Twelve Italian tour operators and more than thirty-five Hungarian buyers took part in the Italia workshop organised in the Magyar capital by ENIT's Budapest office, with a view to promoting, supporting, and increasing flows of tourists from Hungary both to traditional, best known Italian destinations and to promote those that are less well-known, but that are easy to get to via the new routes introduced by many low cost airlines.

Families and couples without children are targeted, with tailormade packages prepared for them, put together to meet specific needs and related in particular to sun-sea, food and wine tour, nature and mountain attractions.

Despite fears that the international economic crisis may affect the choice of holidays among Hungarian tourists, signs of a real economic recovery legitimise a confident approach to 2012. Hungarian operators are confident of a general upturn in travel consumption and this initiative will make it possible to create fruitful, long-lasting ties.

"For next summer - points out ENIT Managing Director, Paolo Rubini - June and July will be a determining period for bookings. Cultural and seaside destinations will be most in demand, especially when combined. The most popular locations are the Adriatic Coast: Jesolo, Bibione, Lignano, Riccione and Cattolica, and the Art Cities of Rome, Florence and Venice. Interest in Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily is also growing".
